Are You a Milk Hoarder?

Are You a Milk Hoarder?, Someday, I'm visiting host a show called " Milk Hoarders. " During this show, I will be able to surprise a breastfeeding mom by knocking on her door asking to discover her freezer stash of milk.

She is going to sheepishly take me towards the kitchen and show us a freezer full towards the brim with bags of breastmilk. Upon the door from the freezer there are two bags of frozen peas and also a pint of ice cream for later that night.

There's little else inside the freezer because there isn't any room for anything.

I will be able to ask her " where is that the rest? "

She is going to say, " this really is it! " But, I ve got a 7 year old and I do know a nasty lie when I see one. I can give that " do not lie to me " type of stare.

She is going to admit " well, there is that the chest freezer inside the garage that is likewise full. "

Why is there such a lot milk with your freezer? Can you know just simply the amount milk is inside the freezer?

Sure It's nice to get a little freezer stash for work reasons. Actually, I recommend you've 3 daycare days worth of milk with your freezer if you're a full time working, pumping mom. But that's 40-50 oz tops.

If you're an Exclusive Pumper (EPer), you could have just the maximum amount of milk with your freezer as possible possibly stuff. You may also keep some in grandma's freezer. EPers prefer to hope that their milk will outlast their pumping for a couple of weeks or months. But you are regularly using their milk, so they're savers, not hoarders.

So, what is a reason why YOU have such a lot milk with your freezer?

Can it be just just in case you are hit using a bus and you're in a coma for 3 weeks? When I'd been breastfeeding, I made my husband promise me that in case I slipped into your coma, he would are available and pump my breasts every 3 hours inside the ICU to keep my milk supply.

Can it be so that you could feel as if you are able to go out everytime you want? Therefore you do not feel so " trapped " by breastfeeding? Great. Keep a couple of 2-4 oz bottles for just such an occurrence. Not 300 2-4 oz bottles.

Can it be because you've such an oversupply of milk which you can't just breastfeed without feeling engorged? The body includes a physical addiction to feeding your baby's twin brother Pumpie.

Now, if you're rotating this milk out and using it, great. But, in case you directly breastfeed your baby a lot of the time and you really are properly pumping everyday at work, you won't even put a dent in which 200 oz, 500 oz, or 1000 oz freezer stash. It expires in 6 months and you'll waste it.

Every time a hoarder tosses expired milk from her freezer, a fairy dies.

i have 3 major issues with hoarding. Ready to listen to them?

1. Hoarding is fear driven behavior.

You're paranoid exactly what might happen for you. You're convinced that certain morning you'll awaken and also your milk will certainly be gone. You equate formula with failure (which it is not) and you also think that when you have enough milk with your freezer, you won't ever got to use formula, i. e. you won't ever feel as a failure.

If you're feeding your freezer to keep your fear in check, you will want to bring a hard look into the fear that's controlling your behavior. The hoarding is really a symptom of these fearful thoughts.

2. Your baby will presumably never drink everything milk, but there will be babies that require that milk.

Donate or peer share. Do not enable your milk expire before little tiny NICU babies get an opportunity to drink it.

3. If you do not know just simply the amount you've, you do not know just simply the amount you'll need.

Mother's should build their back to labor freezer stash in a really deliberate way. A Pumpin' Mama always knows exactly just simply the amount milk is in her own freezer stash. She knows just simply the amount she takes from her freezer stash on Sunday night to defrost for Monday. She knows just simply the amount milk she returns to her freezer stash on Friday night. If she did not place the same # of oz in on Friday that she took on Sunday, then she knows her milk supply dipped slightly and she needs to pay out focus on getting it back up.

The freezer stash is that the pulse of her milk supply. If she's an abundance of milk, she may think that she does not need to labor to extend her supply when she comes up just a little short at the conclusion each week. That's the beginning from the downfall of the Pumpin' Mama's supply.

So, if you will become a hoarder, a minimum of know just simply the amount milk you've with your freezer and utilize that information to collect information concerning your milk supply.

Main point. Keep just the maximum amount of milk as you would like with your freezer, but please apply it. Know just simply the amount can there be so when it expires.
